I just read an interesting explanation in Yahoo answers about PETA. PETA does euthanizes animals but they do it only to animals that are extremely traumatized or not fit to live in this world because of physical deformities.
A poster in Yahoo answer says
“From what I know about PETA they don’t take in your run of the mill ‘dumped by owner’, ‘owner died’ animals who could quite easily be rehomed. They are not an animal shelter like the SPCA or the Humane Society.
Many of the animals they end up with are those from facilities which have been conducting horrific experiements in which the aninmals have been so badly traumatized, both physicallly and mentally, that it it is simply not possible to rehome them. Who exactly is going to take home a severely disturbed rhesus monkey that has been seperated from its mother after two days, kept in isolation for 5 years and then had electrodes implanted in its brain to simulate epilepsy or by force has developed an addiction to heroin?? or a beagle puppy that has been subjected to various forms of vivisection and has developed an aggressive attitude towards people as a result??
For this reason it makes sense that a higher percentage of the animals which end up in there care ultimately end up being euthanised than with a regular Animal shelter. They are not your average abandoned animals . It is highly likely that 86% of the animals they end up caring for are too messed up to be rehomed. If 86% of animals going into a regular shelter were being euthanised then there would be reason to worry, as most animals which end up in a normal shelter are perfectly good candidates for rehoming.
Put the numbers in perspective also – The 10,000 odd figure for all the animals that PETA were meant to have taken in the whole of 2006 is pretty small in comparison to how many animals a regular shelter has pass through its doors in a single year. If PETA were taking in everyday abandonment cases don’t you think the number would be in the hundreds of thousands due to their funding and profile? They are obviously taking in the extreme cases related to their campaigns not just Fido who got too big for his owners to look after..
Who exactly published those websites which have been mentioned in response to this question?? I would be interested to know. Do they have a vested interest in making PETA seem like the bad guy ie a company such as IAMS or KFC who PETA have long campaigned against?? or a group like the Hunters Association of America??”
All humans who kill chicken by beheading are virtual beheading sadists. We released a new ad based on that.
According to a news article Jennifer Aniston the former friends star stopped by a fur boutique in beverly hills and shopped for some fur. Well if she did that ill be the first one to send a letter to her to not to wear it and return it back or burn the fur coat. Fur coats are against Peta’s ethics. The way fur industry treats animals cannot be tolerated. We will fight till the end to stop all fur trade.
article states
“Jennifer Aniston stopped by the Edwards-Lowell fur boutique in Beverly Hills yesterday — prompting speculation that the former Friends star may be picking out some new animal skins for the winter.
We obviously all know what might come next should Jen decide to walk that road: a harshly written letter from PETA and some not-so-flattering press. How could there be any appeal in shopping in places like a fur boutique these days?”
http://www.petakillsanimals.com is a site devoted to spreading rumors and false information about the great animal welfare Organization PETA. When ever i see the site I hate to see the amount of misinformation spread on their site. PETA rarely kills animals they do only to animals that are totally disabled and are unable to survive in this world. But this website accuses PETA for killing animals without knowing the fact.
To the site owner ill tell you one thing please read more about the inner activities of PETA and then talk, animals are not to kill we find better places for animals to live in this world. Peta has helped 100s of 1000s of animals find a better place to live. Just because few animals are killed since they are totally disabled to lead a normal life in the world doesn’t mean you can accuse us.
PETA will continue to do the great job regardless of all the falsified critiques.

KFC India’s suppliers’ cramp birds into huge waste-filled factories breed them to grow so large that many can’t even walk, and often break their wings and legs. At slaughter, the birds’ throats are slit and they are dropped into tanks of scalding-hot water—often while they are still conscious. KFC’s own animal welfare advisors have asked the company to take steps to eliminate these abuses, but KFC refuses to do so. PETA India obtained graphic video footage documenting the following at a Venkateshwara Hatcheries farm, which supplies KFC India:
- Chickens were stuffed into extremely crowded warehouses, where they had to push and shove in order to reach their food.
- Birds were bred to grow so large so quickly that many suffered in agony when their weak legs could not support their weight.
- Barns were littered with the carcasses of chickens who died from fatal diseases.
- Many sick and injured chickens never received medical attention.
- Chickens suffered at the hands of callous workers who neglected to observe even minimum animal welfare standards.
What PETA wants from KFC India?
In the wake of KFC Canada’s agreement to dramatically improve its animal welfare standards, PETA has called on the parent company of KFC in India, Yum! Restaurants International, to follow KFC Canada’s lead by taking the following actions:
- Phase-in 100 per cent of its purchases of chicken meat from suppliers which use controlled-atmosphere killing (CAK) – the least cruel form of poultry slaughter ever developed.
- Improve its animal welfare audit criteria to reduce the number of broken bones and other injuries suffered by birds.
- Urge its suppliers to adopt better practices, including improved lighting, lower stocking-density and ammonia levels, and a phase-out of growth-promoting drugs and breeding practices which painfully cripple chickens.
- Form an animal welfare advisory panel.

For the past couple of years, I’m longing to get my teeth into this confection, called Turkish Delight also called lokum or loukoum – made from sugar and starch. It is generally flavored with lemon and rosewater that gives a characteristic pale pink color. It has a soft, jelly-like and sometimes sticky consistency, and is often packaged and eaten in small cubes which are dusted with icing sugar or copra (nothing but coconut, similar to Tamil name) to prevent sticking. Some varieties contain small nut pieces, usually hazelnut, pistachio or walnuts. Other flavors include mint and cinnamon. In the production process soapwort (a kind of flower) may be used as an additive, serving as an emulsifier. So anyone there going to Istanbul?

There’s a lot to celebrate about the Summer Olympics in China. But there’s an ugly side for animals living in the Olympic host country: the Chinese fur industry’s horrific abuse of animals. You can help expose this cruel trade. Read more

Hard Candy was the 11th studio album by Madonna and was released on April 25, 2008, and I bought a copy of it only in May end, and till now I’ve been enjoying this on my iPod. More than 2,500,500 copies have sold so far worldwide. Hard Candy was released towards the end of April following the full release of its lead single 4 Minutes featuring Justin Timberlake. April 26 was the official release date in Australia but many retailers chose to sell the album two days prior to this April 24, while a select few European countries saw the album’s release on April 25, including the Ireland, Austria, Belgium and Germany.
On April 28, 2008 the album was released in the United Kingdom, Brazil and most other European countries, and on 29 April 2008 in the United States, Argentina, Mexico and Canada. The album, overall, has a hip-hop/urban pop vibe, while remaining a dance-pop record at heart! The 4 Minutes track is a super duper hit with a mind blowing music, both Madonna and Justin are a saucy pair! If you wanna buy an album this year, it has to be Hard Candy! All 12 tracks are awesome; you will definitely keep tapping your feet! Of course, the only thing I don’t like about Madonna, she is ‘Fur-ocious‘ – she definitely need to think again when she wears another fur coat!

Jesse Randhawa, who is hot on the fashion circuit and a great ramp-walker, and Sandip Soparrkar, who has taught dance moves to Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities, agreed to pose together for PETA’s campaign to save snakes from abusive snake charmers. Randhawa and Soparrkar willingly entertained people with their joint dance performances, and now they want to show people how it feels to be forced to perform, as snakes are.
“Performance should be by choice, not by force”, says supermodel Jesse Randhawa. “Snakes may not scream, but they suffer to entertain us: hear their pain.”
As the month of August begins, so do the preparations for Naag Panchami, which include capturing snakes. Snakes are captured in suffocating bags, kept in tiny boxes and starved. Their teeth are violently yanked out, and many snakes’ mouths are painfully sewn shut before they are brought into cities. The snakes’ venom ducts are often pierced with a hot needle, which causes the glands to burst. Some snakes go blind because the “tikka”, which is applied to their hoods during pooja, trickles into the snakes’ eyes.
Snake charmers set up their baskets on busy street corners and at public festivals. Most snakes shun human contact and would rather flee than fight. But snakes used in these performances are forced to interact with noisy crowds, and they are subjected to excessive human contact.
Even though the Indian Wildlife Act of 1972 banned these cruel displays, snake charmers blatantly disregard the law in order to make a profit. Naag Panchami is held in honour of the Serpent God, Naag Devta. But instead of paying tribute to these fascinating reptiles, people torture them in “charming” displays or by forcing them to drink milk. It is a myth that snakes drink milk.
