PETA INDIA’S recent investigation in Indian diary farm revealed a shocking cruelty given to cows and buffaloes. Most of the diary farms in India have no provision for animal healthcare and welfare.
Buffaloes in diary farms of Delhi are suffering from skin infections, foot disease and other illness. Garbage is piled every where. Facility for drainage, electricity, and water disposal sites are lacking there.
In some of the farms of Mumbai, calves are tied tightly with ropes in order to prevent them from reaching their mother. But in their attempt to get free, they get entangled and die.
Cows are beaten into submission and artificially inseminated so that they keep producing milk. This practice has to be performed by trained professional. They are injected with oxytocin, an illegal drug that causes cow to produce large quantity of milk and after that they suffer from severe stomach cramps as though they are in labour. They don’t even maintain the basic standard of hygiene. They use the equipment without sterilizing them, exposing cows to infections and diseases. Necessary actions are required to be taken to overcome such a drastic cruelty towards the cows and buffaloes.
