Thailand’s pride is crowned by the largest land mammals. Elephants have always been an integral part of their culture.
The authorities noticed two dead elephants in restricted national park. They suspected the intrusion of the poachers. On further investigation the sickening truth was revealed. The people seemed to have developed a taste for the elephant meat.
The elephants are being slaughtered in large numbers to satisfy this meat demands. The poachers are selling the elephant trunks which are of good value, and the rest of the elephant is ending up on the plate right from elephant foot, the bones to the reproductive organs. The urge to satisfy their taste buds proved stronger than the will to respect their culture.
This new trend has accelerted the possible extinction of the elephants and has laid more pressure on these gentle giants to wage a losing battle against their lives.

Elephants are often associated with Long term memory. And it was creatures like the great apes and fox that were often associated with intelligence. However an experiment on a caprive teen aged elephant really proved that these gentle giants are soon to be added into the clever and smart animals list.
Experiment:
The elephant was lured by its favourite edible item on high up the branches of a tree.
After several attempts of lifting his trunk to reach the branch, sitting up on his hind legs to reach the branch, the elephant seemed to have given up. Only to return with a box that he plays with to be used as a tool. To eveybody’s surprise he puts the box right under the branch perches the front two legs on the box carefully to shake his well earned treat.
The use of tools was thought to be restricted to limited number of animal species but this experiment revealed that human intelligence is not to under rate any other intelligence.

Of all the animals pigs are very smart is what the scientists say. But can they match up to play with humans?
Here is how iPad App Pig Chase bridges this gap. This game engages both humans and animals interactively in a game that gives emotional and moral boost for the humans and the pigs. The humans share a relation with the pigs and in turn become a source of entertainment for the pigs.
This was initially launched to give some sort of mental exercise for the pigs as study found that pigs that were frustrated often end up in quarreling with their neighbors , were often confused and unable to use their intelligence. This way of entertainment can use their smartness to be mentally active and can avoid conflicts.
A sneak peek into the Game
The whole idea here is to make the pigs a playmate to humans so that they will not end up in plates.

” The man’s Best Friend deserves t live better”. We have witnessed many a times the dogs being subject to inhuman treatment. Peta in its efforts to uplift the miserable lives of dogs have declared this January as the “Unchain a Dog ” month.
How can we contribute ?
Simple-
- Spread Awareness , make people know that dogs once trained need not be chained and chained dogs can be ferocious.
- Get actively involved in your commuity to help dog ownwers how to care better for their dogs.
- Recommed dog owners to use a leash on dogs while taking them for a walk and set them free when back home.
These are all some ways that you can effortlessly spread the word and help.
But if you really want to get down and help:
- you can get in touch with the local animal care center and help them take in the stray dogs from your locality.
- If you spot anyone chaining beyond the chaining restrictions you can launch a complain with Peta.
- You can engage with your local city council and help save the chained animals .
- pass the word around to your friends and engage them in this noble activity as well.
Peta Activists will once again reveal skin to grab the public eye not on to themselves but to the boards that will bear “Bare Skin—Don’t Wear Skin,”. Set to start on 20 th JAn 2012 noon from the southwest corner of Forbes Avenue and Market Square, Pittsburgh.
Two girls are to walk the Pittsburgh streets wearing nothing but flesh coloured attire to promote the public to cut down the use of fur.”By showing some of our own skin, we hope people will consider letting animals keep theirs,” says PETA beauty Tracy Patton.
This may seem a bit too much and a few of us may even feel that this is all unnecessary ,but that is exactly what Peta is looking for, any form of publicity that would quickly grab people’s attention. Fashion Idol Tim Gunn says in the video . All the trouble that animals go through to be nothing more than a fashion accessory. That is not their destiny and we humans cannot decide their destiny.
Just foe information - How animals are electrocuted, poisoned, gassed or have heads their necks broken to shed skin. Not only that how they had to endure the inhuman torture and treatment they were subject to in the farms and in the slaughter houses. This really is a shock – People stuff snakes mouth with hose pipes and stuff them with water so that they are plump, their skin turns tight on them to make the job easier for men to remove their skin when the snakes are still alive.
There are over 500 species of Bombardier beetles Rea dominantly found in North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Australia. Within its body, near the rear end, the beetle has two pouches that house hydrogen peroxide and hydroquinone. When aggitated, the beetle sprays the contents of both the pouches at the predator throygh a mixing chamber. the When combined, the reactants undergo a violent exothermic chemical reaction, raising the temperature to near the boiling point of water.
The boiling, foul-smelling liquid partially becomes a gas and is expelled through an outlet valve into the atmosphere with a loud popping sound. A single beetle can discharge up to 29 consecutive times and can spray at a distance of up to 4 times its body length.
