Fashion industry has often been abused by Peta for its selfish usage of animals. This includes the animal tested cosmetics, textile materials derived from animals and insects eg: silk , and the list keeps extending.

However here are a few designers who are trying to adopt the Peta policies into their creations. Samant Chauhan, Anita Dongre, Lecoanet Hemant, Stella McCartney, LUSH Natural Cosmetics have pioneered this initiative on the large.

Samant Chauhan disapproves the use of silk in his line of clothes only uses the silk that go waste, knitting it with other fabrics to create designer wear that is eco friendly.

Anita Dongre’s Grass Roots take the proud stand of “The first Organic line of Dresses in the country”. These wears are inspired by the colourful vegetable dyes and she whipped up a range that was both colourful and chic. The fashionable gowns not only are organic but are also very much sort after as the range starts from 4000 INR. The organic cotton is said to be good owing to its properties and its ability to keep cool even during the hottest of summers.

Lecoanet Hemant who has worked with the top models and rollers now seems to have gotten his head into a new range of eco friendly wears. His Green collection employing the eco products i.e. cotton, poplin, khadi and handloom silk coupled with his successful original touch is proving a must have in all the diva’s list.

Stella McCartney is another recognized eco designer. Even her range of shoes seem are ecofriendly, made of PVS and other materials.
